I am the web portal administrator at Clayton State University in Morrow, GA. I deal primarily with Linux systems (preferably Debian).
If you use the word "consume" in place of use/parse/etc. then it is unlikely that I will make an attempt to answer your question.

Solo a track with a Gate sidechained to a grouped track? Since I haven't come up with any better solutions since I posted the question, I'm going to accept this answer. I'm pretty sure it's just not possible to do it any easier :( |

Solo a track with a Gate sidechained to a grouped track? Keep in mind that the screenshot and project posted are a contrived example. In the middle of an actual project, the work arounds, that I have mentioned, are too tedious to be of any use. |

Solo a track with a Gate sidechained to a grouped track? The main problem is that I can't solo Track B to adjust the gate settings because the Track A group stops sending a signal. I could "solo" Track B by sending Track A's audio to a track/send that doesn't output sound, but that is a good bit of extra work. I simply want to be able to solo my gated tracks so that I can adjust effects and such without other sounds in the way. |

Solo a track with a Gate sidechained to a grouped track? I'll have to double check, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter at which point in the routing I pull the signal, the gate will not work soloed in this configuration. |
