What instruments are these? Do you consider samples to be not acoustic? The cello notes and pizzicato bass are almost certainly being generated by physical instruments, recorded into a sampler. |

Can OS X audio preview loop or be replaced by a different playback system that supports looping? One of the reasons I suggest QuickTime is because it's a very lightweight app, and audio files will open very quickly if the app is already open. |

Can OS X audio preview loop or be replaced by a different playback system that supports looping? By "Preview", do you mean QuickLook? The Preview app doesn't read audio files. |

How do I record multiple mics to a computer without a mixer? @TravisDtfsuCrum Phantom power is not necessary for dynamic microphones, only condensers. Furthermore, a microphone doesn't "have" phantom power, rather, a condenser microphone that requires it must have it provided either by the mic preamp or a suitable inline adapter. The Presonus interface I linked in my answer provides phantom power with the "48V" button on the front. |

How do I record multiple mics to a computer without a mixer? Well in that case, you should definitely try to get low-impedance XLR microphones, like the SM58s that I linked above, and a multichannel interface like the Presonus to act as the mic preamp and audio interface. There really shouldn't be -anything- using 3.5mm in this kind of setup, except maybe for monitor headphoens. |

How do I record multiple mics to a computer without a mixer? Well, you said you had two USB microphones, but then you mentioned some kind of 3.5mm to USB or XLR to USB somethingorother. Model #'s would be useful to help figure out what you actually have--I'd be wondering if the 3.5mm microphone you have is suitable for recording. |
