Why is Pro Tools the industry standard in high end audio production? @sims - The install I talked about was in a multi-million dollar facility with multiple suites, including a 128-channel Euphonics room, a ProControl room, 2 Control24 edit bays, seven Macs, etc. Not easy to KISS in that situation. |

Why is Pro Tools the industry standard in high end audio production? I must say, Lennart makes a good point -- you have to be awesomeness personified to knock off the champ. Pro Tools is so entrenched at this point that marginal improvements in competing products don't garner much attention from the industry. That said, I still maintain that no one has beat Digi at this game yet, except maybe on price. |

Why is Pro Tools the industry standard in high end audio production? @jlebre: Not sure if "fooling" is the right term here. Can't speak to the others, but we use Apogee I/O here and know for a fact that they pay a licensing fee to Digidesign for each card sold. Are you saying these others aren't licensed by Digi? I don't see how they are able to interface with PT otherwise. The specs are proprietary and are guarded like Fort Knox. |

Why is Pro Tools the industry standard in high end audio production? Well, there was really nothing thruly stopping you from doing that before, but the question is, will they support it under those circumstances? They haven't in the past. If they do now, that is definitely new. |
