comment Should I use 44.1KHz, 48KHz or 96KHZ sampling frequency for hobby projects?
@leftaroundabout, I think you misunderstood me. I meant exactly the opposite. You can do a test yourself at lower frequencies where your ears can notice the 3.9kHz difference.

@leftaroundabout, the difference between 48kHz and 44.1kHz is so little, it's not worth introducing artifacts, however minimal they may be.

Even if you can't hear it, doesn't mean someone else can't. This is why good mastering engineers use tools along with their ears. Though, most people are fine staying amateurs.

comment How do I isolate parts of a song according to pan position?
This is correct. It's like asking what is the value of 'b' in the following problem: a + b = 100

comment Ableton Live - record midi CC data during a live performance?
Aha, session view is loop view? I'll try when I get back in the studio. I know it can be edited for sure though.

It's not about liking it or not. It's so broad. Perhaps be more specific, because depending on the material, different techniques might be used. Also, it's not such a good idea to master recordings. You master albums. If a recording is already "mastered", it's very difficult to master it later with scope of the album. That is when it all comes together and you want each track to have similar levels and tonal character.

Subjective. I like the sound of vinyl better.

You know, some people come to this site because they are looking for answers. It's nice to help those people. But, this is not a trivia site like code golf. If you are going to ask questions you already have an answer to, you should probably give an answer and then eventually select it. Otherwise your questioning serves no purpose.

It always depends on the material.

comment Ableton Live - record midi CC data during a live performance?
Well, AL 3 does not have MIDI support. From AL 4 MIDI support is there. What does not work? When I record CC data, it adds it. When I record notes, they are overwritten.

comment Audio tracker for Linux with support for VST/VSTi
Yeah, that's my take. Commercial devs write for Win or Mac. The best thing Linux has going is JACK. I use a JACK setup with xwax and sooperlooper for DJing. Works better than the commercial offerings.

Yeah, I'm not too stoked about Ableton's dithering math.
