A USB device with 5 microphone inputs: Is that possible? @endolith Is there a list of products that can do that? Also does it need any USB Controller side support? |

What is the output of an iPhone headphone jack? Indeed.. But it takes the left channel of the audio to send to that mono speaker.. |

How to get rid of static background hum Hmmm.. This is out of my range of expertise.. You should update your question with your new findings though.. |

How to get rid of static background hum OK. I just checked that the interface is powered by USB.. Are you using a laptop or a desktop? If you're using a laptop, check if running it from just battery (plugging out the power cord) helps.. |

Zoom H2 recording levels are too low Great answer.. In my experience with the Zoom, most of the time, just normalizing helps quite a bit.. :) |

Microphone for recording sounds on the Mac? Not all microphones need phantom power. Mostly only the condensers need it.. |

Why are all my recordings fuzzy and quiet!? I am just wondering if the pickup outputs at a much lower voltage level than expected by the LightSnake. Can you check if the LightSnake has any specs on input levels?? And the same with your pickup for output levels? |

Why are all my recordings fuzzy and quiet!? So basically (electrical) impedance is a property of all electrical devices. For the best transfer of audio through a chain of devices happens with all the impedances are matched (equal). |

Software for Live Multi-Tracking Recording & Mixing Does your M-Audio gear come with some DAW?? I remember when M-Audio would ship with some limited version of Pro-Tools.. Maybe you could use that.. |

What is the output of an iPhone headphone jack? Interesting side-note, the external speakers on the iPhone are 'mono', and I believe only output the left channel.. |

Lavalier for video production I have used the Giant Squid mics, but they are electrets need 5V biasing voltage (also called "Plug-in power") .. So you will need to check with your camera if they support that or need a battery pack in the middle.. I believe the H1 should support it.. |

Is Garage Band a viable tool for home recording? Yup. The way I look at it is, start with Garageband (it's much cheaper than the alternatives) and if you really feel the lack of things, then you know you need to upgrade. |

Best way to mic up a group discussion Would be interesting to know the kind of environment you're recording in.. Is it in a room or outside? Will it be noisy? |

Hacking up a podcast functionality with the Behringer XENYX 1202FX. "Duck" is generally an automated effect or track-attribute you can add on your DAW.. That will reduce the volume of a track when the other track has some sound, and will bring it back up when the other track has no sound. For example, in Garageband, it's the small up/down arrow in each track control. |

Monitoring multiple USB microphones @Brad. That's news to me. When I had researched on using multiple USB Mics for Windows, most places indicated that it's dependent on the Mics, and if they support it, since it's not built into the Windows Audio stack.. |
