Dynamic saturation exaggeration You don't need sidechans to get this effect; it's a natural result of mix bus compression with a really loud transient. If release is kinda slow you get this pretty dramatically. |

Best sequence in a DAW to improve a poorly recorded voiceover? Could you just re-record them yourself using a decent mic? If they did the VO on a computer headset they obviously don't care much about what the voice sounds like... Maybe they don't care whose voice it is! It would be faster and have better results than trying to polish a t***. |

Best cable to connect guitar amp to speaker cabinet? I had banana out of my backbreaker power amp back when I carted a big bass rig. Speakon in to the cabinet. When you get into the 500w and up range they are more common. |

Connecting Linux MIDI source to iOS Network Midi device? Thanks... not the answer I had hoped to hear, but it was the one I expected. |

Creating a classic ska sound A Fuzz Pedal is a particular type of extreme distortion, usually used as a guitar effect. Not likely to be useful to apply to an overall mix in this context. |

Free Linux tool to convert FLV to MP3 I believe Totem uses the 'gstreamer' media framework. If so, you should be able to mangle a gstreamer pipeline to extract the audio, should you desire. I have never really been that up on gstreamer so I can't give details. |

Triggers on drums in the studio, why? Somebody made a decision to use the triggered sounds rather than the recorded drums. Who made decisions during that recording session? Can you ask them? The engineer SHOULD have been working for whoever was paying the bills, and worked with that person/group when big creative decisions like that were being made. |

Headphone cables: Coiled v.s Straight Some people say that the swirling action as the signal passes through the coiled cable enhances the Tone, in much the same way that swirling a glass of wine allows the bouquet to develop. |

What is the best way to mic a hammered dulcimer? Will the recording be solo or part of a group? Trying to record vocals as well? |

I have two computers with audio output, and I'd like to monitor both, simultaneously, with one set of speakers. What do I need? Not as good as a real mixer??? Put the circuit above in a fancy rack mount with some kind of hip-sounding name and you can sell it for $2500! cf sweetwater.com/store/detail/2BUS |
