Perhaps you could answer one more thing - I've asked this a few times but never got a direct answer: As all sounds collapse into one waveform when recorded, does this mean that a single waveform can reproduce any sound? |

How to reproduce any sound If, at an instant in time, 1 sampling frequency was at 24 volts, another at 212 volts, another at -16 and so on, how would the converter record that particular sample? It can't distinguish each individual frequency immediately and record 5 separate byte sequences for that time sample, so what happens instead? I hope that makes sense. |

If you don't mind, I'll just ask one more question in all of this: Let's say you sample a particular, exact instant of time. A single sample instance of 1/44,000th of a second of a recording. If, in that instance you had 5 separate frequencies at distinctly separate amplitudes at that point in time, could these all 'cancel' out into one waveform? Let's take an arbitrary example with the arbitrary voltages in your diagram above: |
