Is this audio signal path enough/correct? We have access to a symphony orchestra concert hall :-) It sounds great, it's a quite smallish hall with not too long "reverb". I already own the MacBookAir. |

Is this audio signal path enough/correct? Aha, you are talking about Mid-Side recording? I read about that here on the forum and really liked the effect. |

Is this audio signal path enough/correct? Thanks for your great input here. I have now clarified my question - I am intending to record classical recital style flute in a concert hall. Hence the ribbon choice. I have done recordings like this before with condenser mikes and feel ready to try upgrading to ribbons and go for the joy of acoustic clarity and natural sound recording! Ribbon sound amazing on winds and brass. Agreed, the MacBookAir is not ideal - interesting though above to use a handheld recorder instead - thoughts on this? |

Is this audio signal path enough/correct? Also, I got an answer from on of the employees at Cascade (I sent them an email asking about their recommendations). They said I could go directly from the Cascade ribbons through the cloudlifter and into the Apogee (they have seen good results with this), but he said down the line you might wanna look into a preamp as well. |

Is this audio signal path enough/correct? Interesting ideas. The Olympys LS-100 looks interesting, but I do not need the built-in microphones. I also doubt that the quality of those preamps merely compares to those of the Apogee etc. |

Is this audio signal path enough/correct? Thanks for your input! Yes, I have had a run down that rabbit hole some ten years ago and left the scene for that reason actually, funny you mentioned it. I seemed to have pinned down the correct types of microphones this time though. Regarding the Apogee Duet, there is one with firewire that actually will work with my MacBookAir through the thunderbolt port via an adapter. I thought Apogee would be nice due to quality mic pres? |

Microphone recommendation for solo trombone recordings So let's say I am to record this solo flautist in a nice orchestra hall. I want to get nice and clean flute sound as well as some room ambient. Do I use a fathead on the flautist and something else for the ambient? Or shall I simply use a stereo fathead pair aimed at the flautist? I also read on the forum about Mid Side Recording, using a pattern 8 mic with pan and phase change for nice presence. I am such a newbie, help appreciated! |

Microphone recommendation for solo trombone recordings Wow, I am excited about those fatheads, they look great! And cheap too if they now sounds that good as they say they do! What would you recommend running them through to get them into my computer? I know it depends on the sound you want and all that, by could you nudge me in the right direction? |

Zoom H2 recordings with two different mic settings. How can I match them now? yes it has. You mean to sum the two mono channels of the stereo track into one? |

Zoom H2 recordings with two different mic settings. How can I match them now? it is not necessarily about matching the volume. It is the fact that one of my recordings has the front sound and the back sound (which picks up about 40meters worth of concert hall), compared to the other recording which only has a left and right channel of the front mic only. |

Zoom H2 recordings with two different mic settings. How can I match them now? I am using Adobe Audition CS6 at the moment, but also used Sony SounddForge in the past. |

Zoom H2 recordings with two different mic settings. How can I match them now? I really do not quite understand what you are saying here. |

Zoom H2 recordings with two different mic settings. How can I match them now? Almost, the first recording is made with the 2-channel setting, not the 4-channel setting. Hence, one channel has the front mic signal and the other channel the rear mic signal. |

How can I encode audio with Nero AAC Encoder using Mac OS X? And on the iTunes question, iTunes will not convert using the NeroAACEnc encoder. |

How can I encode audio with Nero AAC Encoder using Mac OS X? Wow, a quick read on your fdk-aac link tells me it would be a good option. Really worth trying. How can I get the Linux version to work within OS X? |
