comment Fix for terrible “Hard Drive Noise” Audio Interference?
Update: After 4+ months I still haven't been able to fix this issue. If anyone has further advice I'd be very grateful. I updated the post with another recording of the interference/noise.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. Does this problem come from bad grounding inside my PC or something? Also, I should probably note that I built my own PC. Maybe something inside isn't grounded correctly? Unfortunately I don't know that much about electricity and grounding. - Also, the DI box is a super cheap (maybe 20-30usd) LiveWire Direct Box that I picked up one night from my local 'giant music store'. I spent ages trying to solve this, and I decided to experiment with the DI box in hopes that it would help. I believe it's passive and it has a 'ground lift' switch...

Good thinking, I just gave it a shot with nothing plugged in. The noise seemed to be gone (or close to it). I'm not sure exactly what that means or how to get around that. Obviously I need something to be plugged in! =)

Yes. I believe we used the exact same cables on both cards. I also know that the 1/4th TS cable used from the guitar to the interface is working as I tested it using my guitar amp. Originally, i thought that the cables were the cause of the interference, due to the fact that they were so close to my PC. I bought a relatively inexpensive DI box for the sake of using XLR with my interface. It didn't seem to help significantly. I believe the recording that I attached was using the exact setup listed above (guitar -> ts -> DI box -> xlr -> interface)...

Note: I've edited in the audio sample from SoundCloud. - Dtfsu, I had this issue before using the DI box. I bought it to see if having a DI box would solve the problem. - byron, I'll look into that option. I'm not exactly sure which component could be causing this issue. Maybe my power supply isn't grounded for some reason? I'm not even sure how to test that though. I'll try to look into it.
