How to record one or several celli? Well, I never used them personally, so I might be wrong about this, but in general, I think these type of microphones are used for very close mic-ing because of their characteristcs. (As you mention: putting them on the instrument is basically as close as you can get.) Close mic-ing (i.e. putting the microphone very close to the instrument) is not recommendable for chamber music, as one wants it to sound like natural, acoustical instruments. Part of the music is the acoustics of the room where they were played. |

How do I match a microphone to a preamp +1 for linking to the website of Eberhard Sengpiel. (And of course for a very good answer.) |

The most common mistakes for newbies recording I respectfully disagree (probably due to terminology here): during the mixing stage, one should only listen to his studio monitors (and incidentally a pair of good headphones to get a better idea of reverberation, acoustics and noise, but really not to get an impression of the mix); doing otherwise is something I consider a mistake myself. The task of making it sound well on other speaker systems should not be taken care of during mixing, but during mastering. (i.e. after the mixing is done.) And during mastering, the mix should not be changed to solve these issues. |

Porting audio from web browser to DAW Closed. This question is merely about extracting audio from flash applets rather than importing it in your DAW. |

List of free notation software No it doesn't, there is always denemo which lacks a few features but gets the job done. |

Two microphone setup to record voice and acoustic guitar I agree with the last statement, crosstalk is not evil. Rather try getting the kind of sound you want that fits with the music. |

How do I match a microphone to a preamp The short version: Among others, sensitivity is the most interesting thing to look at. It is displayed in mV/Pa. More mV/Pa means more sensitive mic, means stronger signal. |

Gang Vocal Recording Techniques So, 10-12 different people, recorded simultaneously multiple times (so you end up with a lot more voices). Then, a non co-incident system (e.g. ORTF or AB) will do fine. If any doubt, put an XY up as well, and compare the results. You can safely do panning in an XY, since the capsules are (almost) at the same place, so no comb filter effect will happen. |
