Can opening closed speaker cabinets for service affect the sound? Neil, that's kind of a tough task. Almost all of the introductory books on building speakers focus on the methods, not the whys. Understanding how a sealed box behaves is a rather complex mathematical derivation. If you can accept the handwaving that the pressure inside a sealed box is constant with decreasing frequency, then you can see that the box response will remain the baseline as long as the pressure condition holds. |

Can opening closed speaker cabinets for service affect the sound? Neil, how deep down the rabbit hole do you want to go, speaker design wise? |

What is a good mastering chain to use in a DAW? Pelle, I did not mean to be ambiguous, as I had a typo. I use linear phase eq after the dynamics block. Also because dynamics processing is not a linear time invariant (LTI) system, it cannot be linear phase. Most competent multi band compressors use linear phase filters between bandpasses. |

How to bounce with an external effect in Adobe Audition Bouncing the tracks simply completes the same processing at the most rapid rate the computer's configuration can offer. Does your plugin only control the external effect? IOW, is the audio processing of the external effect done in some other box with automatable control knobs being the VST? |

How to mixdown in realtime in Adobe Audition Adobe Audition, like most DAWs, is not really intended to be a real-time playback engine. If you want to do automation on the fly as your tracks are playing back simply purchase one of the midi automation controllers supported by audition and move faders/knobs during plaback to your heart's content. |

Audio Interface from Laptop to Monitors/etc Nothing behringer makes is decent, either in design or QC. Have a look at small mixers from Mackie, Allen and Heath, or Rane. |
