Visual Communications Professional with a background in technology. In the thick of learning Java, PHP & MySQL to augment my web skills. I'm taking a shine to programming a lot more than I thought I would.

Fixing a badly telecined 8mm film digitization Telecine, by nature, interlaces. That's why I hate it. :) |

Fixing a badly telecined 8mm film digitization There may be some open source something of which I may not be aware. However, the problem is not pulling individual frames, but de-interlacing them along the way, too...and knowing which frames are full frames and which are interlaced. |

What equipment do I need to be able to produce 'HD quality' videos? That's great to hear. Good luck, and keep posting questions as you proceed! |

Is it a good idea to use headphones for audio production? A mastering engineer I know takes a cassette to his factory-original car tape deck and goes for a drive. It's pretty close to the worst case scenario. Analog consumer tape fidelity on a sound system of questionable soundness (pardon the pun) in an overly noisy environment. If he feels it sounds good there... |

Is it a good idea to use headphones for audio production? @ObscureRobot agreed. I prefer cans to buds for the same reason. It's like sonic claustrophbia with the buds sometimes. But on a budget...I'd rather have $10 buds than $10 cans. |

Emulating spoken and rap vocals in MIDI I'd be interested to know if it'd be possible to create a wavetable of the 44 phonemes btinternet.com/~ted.power/folkchart.htm in the english language and produce speech that way. |

Complete song master and mixing tutorial @holms ...and that's a perfect example of "tell us what you found and why it didn't meet your needs" e.g., including a line about "i looked at apple's stuff <here>, and I really need something more in depth on mastering techniques". I knwo when I first started asking questions, it took me a while to get into the habit of presenting my research, but I can tell you that the quality of the answers improved exponentially. Good luck! |

Complete song master and mixing tutorial Or, record for 4:52, call it a track _inspired~ by John Cage, and don't pay license fees. I think that extra page of rests in the sheet music would make it significantly different enough. |

Lowering Headphone Output to Fit Microphone Input Great point, @KevinReid! Caveat emptor: I bought/exchanged three in a row from Radio Shack about 3 years ago (when they were in the cell phone busienss) and the plugs loosened, resulting in crackle after a few uses. Hrm. YMMV, but I eventually got a professional one from Comprehensive...but that may be stupid expensive for what you need. |

What are the audio production capabilities in Sony Vegas Pro because I see mostly plug-ins only? as a side note, Vegas is actually built on the Sound Forge engine. Vegas grew out of the "watch an AVI thumbnail while cueing your soundtrack" feature in Sound Forge. As @filzilla said, the ability to export to SF for audio work is the real advantage of the two programs as a suite. AFAIK, the plugins are identical between Vegas and SF as well. It's a good integrated suite that plays together a lot nicer than others. (cough FCP/Avid/ProTools cough) |

Adding a time stamp to a video Good info to know! I suspect that may be the case with most prosumer/consumer products. |

Can Sony Vegas Pro be used or compared to the output produced by Final Cut Pro for professional use? Then again, it's all about what you're going for. I kinda view MSPaint as the 2d-art analogue to creating 8-bit music with an Atari 2600 tone generator. If it's the right tool for what you want to accomplish, rock on! |

Want to try green screen with my elementary students. What do we need. Using Mac OS 10.5.8 @filzilla Also a good point about blue...especially on Sony cameras. I've had good luck with blue on my Canon XL1, but that was EONS ago. :) |

Want to try green screen with my elementary students. What do we need. Using Mac OS 10.5.8 Good point about white. I've had good luck with Philips globes being "close enough" (within 100-150K) of each other. Personally, I always keep lots of pre-cut 1/8 CTB & CTO lying about so I can tweak as needed. However, with four or six of 'em on a 5x6, they blend quite nicely. |
