I started in this field less than a year ago just to make my own page and share with some friends. I came a long long way in this short period of time, I am proud of myself.

New earphones ruined my music I don't want to sound bad, but Audio-Video Production aims to professional/prosumer equipment, so let's be more careful with the kind of questions we make in this site. For inquires about Skull Candy (and Katy Perry, just kiddin'!), please use Yahoo Answers. THANKS!!! |

General (studio) headphones question; impedance, tonality, mixing Yes, expect big differences even in devices with the same brand and model, and a huge one when comparing headphones to monitors. Good luck!!! Also consider the path between the speakers to your ears vs the speakers in your headphones to your ears. Lastly, manufacturers try to save money and sell new technology all the time, sometimes they have to test the market with their stuff, which sometimes is far from being the final product they dream of (iPad 1 anyone?). So expect some lack of mid-range response in a two-drive speaker. |

General (studio) headphones question; impedance, tonality, mixing you shouldn't hear much difference due to the impedance, and as you say the power transfer wouldn't be of 100%. I would recommend to play a record you know (something professionally mastered, for example) and see the difference there instead of with a personal track. |

Super low budget chat-show style webcast That's a good one FOG! No need of preamps and it will sound much better than any mic straight to the pc mic input. The PZM could turn somewhat nasty if the surrounding is noisy, so if you live in a busy street also consider an omni mic hanging from above (try first with the pzm and return it if it doesn't work as you want). I just saw a CAD running for $80 and a MXL for about $100. In this case I would pretty much spend most of the money in lighting so you get an even color temperature in almost all cameras. Good luck |

Best way to output two streams, and add lower thirds keying to one stream? I think you shouldn't, it can take some time for the operator to get used to the 'new' flow of work but it's worth it, specially if you are only working with only one output. However, if you are still nervous about it, I don't think the idea of using a Mac mini is any ideal. I would use a Folsom switcher instead, but the price is too high compared to that of a computer. |

Best way to output two streams, and add lower thirds keying to one stream? Now, why don't you use the AVhs400 keying capability and store that output? |

How do I mute my monitors while leaving headphones on? take into account the latency problems you had before!!! the mixer will not do anything against that. |
