I used to do a lot more video related work, doing 3D animation and video editing. However, it's been years, and not only have I forgotten a lot, technology has moved on.
These days I do a small amount of video editing on Kdenlive on Ubuntu.

How do I know what volume to set my podcasts at? @Josh: I'm not arguing whether or not the other question potentially has useful information. I appreciate you pointing it out to me. I'm just saying that I don't think this question should be closed, because I think it approaches the issue from a direction that is different. Namely that there's no way I, and I think others, can identify that other question as useful because it assumes a lot of advanced knowledge in order to see the relevance. |

How do I know what volume to set my podcasts at? The question "How do you use gain effectively", nor any of its answers mention normalization, which seems a valid answer below. Also, if I had seen that question before asking this, I would not have understood it's advanced jargon. I did search for answers before asking, and did not see that, because none of the terms I searched for appear there. In other words, this question is different enought to merit a different solution, and in any case, I feel it can be helpful for beginners like myself. |

Is there a significant difference in sound quality between 1/4" jacks and three pronged XLR inputs for microphones? Added the "three pronged" description back into the title. Newbies like me don't know what an XLR is, so this makes it easier for people in my position to find this information. |

Why can I only use 2 microphones with my 4 channel USB mixer? You're right about what the specifications say, but the problem is that I did not understand what those specifications meant. In any case, is it possible to purchase a pre-amplified microphone, or small portable amp that I can put between the mike and inputs 3 and 4? |

Why can I only use 2 microphones with my 4 channel USB mixer? Yes, thank you. It was not knowing what a "line-level" input was, and assuming all inputs are the same that led to this erroneous purchase. |
