@ObscureRobot - Thanks, I thought that was the case but needed to verify.

If I use a TRS cable here will it be shielded? Or am I misunderstanding the situation?

Does that mean I can use a shielded/TRS cable for the Hi-Z connection?

comment How to reduce bleed on vocal and instrument mics in a live recording?
This is exactly the sort of technique I was hoping to elicit with this question. Thanks, and I'll try this one out.

This is good general advice, but the recording already exists and this isn't an option anymore.

comment Can Logic stretch an audio region with a varying tempo to fit an existing, stable project tempo?
@TravisDtfsuCrum - Thanks for mentioning Ableton Live; I'm playing with the demo right now, and Warp can do exactly what I need. I can probably use the demo to do everything I need for this project, but I'd still like to know how to do it natively in Logic if I can.

It has something called "Flex Time". But it's not as easy to use as I hear Warp is in Ableton Live - it's more about fixing individual notes than an entire song. My experiments with Flex Time haven't been very successful. I might be best off finding a user of Live and asking if I can run a few files through their system.

It's worth mentioning that I use Logic Express 9, but I can probably get access to Logic Pro on another computer.

comment Can I create multiple mixes within the same project in Logic?
Your image seems to have been removed. Are you able upload a new screenshot?

comment Will ripping my old 90's and 2000's CDs yield as good a quality as buying the MP3s today?
For a while, remasters were improving on those early CD releases. But recent remasters seem to be all about just compressing things to remove dynamic range and make the music "louder".

comment Fixing low-frequency hum in an undersaddle acoustic guitar pickup
You'd think, but this guitar is fourteen years old. Fourteen years hum-free is a pretty good run!

Turns out that replacing just the cable is harder than I thought. This is a very good answer, but I ended up replacing the entire pickup/wire assembly for expediency's sake.

comment Why does one side of my headphones always break?
Is the same side of the headphones always breaking? That would indicate the problem is probably happening with the plug.

@matthewgibb - I respectfully disagree, and I believe it absolutely matters what you do with your headphones. Have added to my answer to address this.

comment Audio from PA system to Camcorder
They'd be using a recorder of some sort - if they have one - or recording to a laptop. "External" in this context means any audio recorder that's not the camcorder.

I've never done it, but I understand it can be done. Ask them for an AIF or WAV file, not an MP3. Can anyone speak to whether or not it's possible for timecode sync to be used in a case like this, if the sound guys have something that'll generate it?

No, it's a small box that only records audio. You plug a mic into it directly and sync up the audio later on.

@Prabhu - See my edit. (It's hard to guess at cable quality from this Amazon link.)

comment What microphone is used by sound engineers in foley?
It's worth noting that mics that use XLR connectors will almost certainly give you better sound.

comment Should my headphones literally be vibrating from bass?
This is a good answer, but I have an image in my head of a little old man with headphones, screaming "get off my lawn!" Old-style, "hi-fi" headphones.
