I'm a robot, but you've probably never heard of me.

running two different versions of the same VST instrument at the same time It seems like you have already answered your own question. In that case, you should put the answer in an actual answer. |

Low-cost WEARABLE midi motion sensors That is going to depend on the accelerometer, the microcontroller that processes its output, and the data communication back to whatever host you are dealing with. Maybe this is a better question for EE. |

Is there a significant difference in sound quality between 1/4" jacks and three pronged XLR inputs for microphones? It is becoming increasingly common to see balanced audio over TRS 1/4" connectors. |

Can Logic stretch an audio region with a varying tempo to fit an existing, stable project tempo? I think the core sequencer is the same in both cases - Logic Pro just comes with more plugins. |

Can Logic stretch an audio region with a varying tempo to fit an existing, stable project tempo? I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, but my Logic skills are rusty. So I'll leave the answer credit to a more active Logic user. |

Mixer built-in DSP effects vs software effects Yeah, but most of those hardware DSP solutions lock you into their own plugin system. I prefer standalone hardware for out of the box work, and good VSTs for in-the-box work. |

Cheapest way to get MANY Audio Inputs No - MOTU is all that I have experience with, and I don't want to turn this into a recommendation thread. You can easily go to a few of the big online vendors and click through their big audio interfaces and then read up on their product literature. |

Is it possible to record audio-responsive Quartz compositions along with the audio? Quartz is very much designed for audio visualizations - one of the default templates is for iTunes visualizations. The problem is that I haven't been able to find a Quartz host that will take a snapshot of the window hosting the quartz composition every 1/30 of a second and keep it in sync with the audio. I could probably fire up XCode and solve this problem myself, but I'm a bit surprised that people in the A/V world don't have a ready-made solution that works well. |

Is it possible to record audio-responsive Quartz compositions along with the audio? I'm doubtful - screenflow records the entire screen at record time, and only lets you crop after the fact. That is a lot of bandwidth to keep up with. |

Is it possible to record audio-responsive Quartz compositions along with the audio? That is what I'm already doing. The problem is that I can't find a way to record the video synchronized with the audio. The best I can do is screencapture tools intended for presentations, and that isn't good enough. |

Which music sw should I consider for aligning audio waveforms to MIDI piano roll, looping MIDI, managing program change, SysEx? Sorry - Logic can definitely do that. I believe ProTools got there first, but is less capable at MIDI than Logic. I doubt GB or Ardour can do it. |

Which music sw should I consider for aligning audio waveforms to MIDI piano roll, looping MIDI, managing program change, SysEx? @therobyouknow even better - you can put alignment marks in your waveform and snap your MIDI to that. And it does a great job of beat detection and automatic insertion of those guidelines. Look up FlexTime on youtube. |

Which music sw should I consider for aligning audio waveforms to MIDI piano roll, looping MIDI, managing program change, SysEx? Yes, you could absolutely do that. Personally, I'd prefer JSON over XML, but that is really splitting hairs. The real issue, though, is usability. I'd encourage you to find someone who has a passion for usability engineering and work together with them to build a tool that is both easy to use in real time and easy to configure at the back end. |

What books and resources can help me better understand my DAW? pedantic: the question specifically asks for "guides to understanding DAW software". So good answers aren't in book form but in the form of a list of books and other resources. Seems valid to me, and I love to close off-topic questions. |

How can I create dubstep-style wobble bass lines in Audacity? No trouble at all. The nice thing about PD is that it is really easy to drop in UI elements. So you can tweak the virtual knobs very quickly. It isn't as nice as a modular synthesizer, but quite a bit more affordable! |

How to change the current playing tone via MIDI MIDI supports up to 16 channels per MIDI interfaces. Devices like the XV-5080 that support more than 16 channels have multiple MIDI interfaces. But your point stands, you should try out different channels as well as omni (0, I believe) to be sure. |

Connecting Turntable to Mic input to bypass preamp? The RIAA curve is critical for turntables. Even if you managed to impedance match with the mic pres, the lack of a RIAA curve would result in low quality sound. |
