What is the difference between Analog and Digital sound when trying to verify the authenticity of the audio source and this is why you shouldn't accept the first (my) answer you get! |

What is the difference between Analog and Digital sound when trying to verify the authenticity of the audio source sounds good. Accepts tend to discourage others from asking, so you might want to wait in the future. |

What is the difference between Analog and Digital sound when trying to verify the authenticity of the audio source Thanks for the accept, but you should really wait at least 24 hours before accepting an answer. I'm obviously biased in favor of my own answer, but there are plenty of people here who may be able to offer more nuanced answers to your question. |

Frequency cut-offs for guitar amp tone Is there a reason you are set on using Java for signal processing? |

Combining 2 Mono Microphones to 1 mono output with a 4 channel recorder in the middle All diodes restrict the direction of the current, but an audio signal goes both above and below zero. In other words, the current is flowing in both directions. So a diode will just clip half of the wave. That's why audio design is so full of Operational Amplifiers (OpAmps). Anyway, this is pretty far afield from the OPs question. |

Combining 2 Mono Microphones to 1 mono output with a 4 channel recorder in the middle I was only an EE for one semester, but won't adding diodes just clip the top or bottom of the signal? I think you'd actually want a buffering opamp to prevent backflow. |

Need sound card or not for gaming actually, you might want gaming.stackexchange.com, since this is a gaming-specific question. Browse around both sites before posting. |

How can 1080p films be so disproportionally lightweight? Encoders "cheat" on everything they possibly can. VLC itself probably uses the full 24 or 32 bit colorspace, but the video being played will most likely only be using a small subset of that space at any given time. |

How to remove noise caused by very loud sounds in a recording? You might be able to EQ away some of the painful harmonics. But your best bet will be to re-record with lower levels and/or a compressor next time. |

What is this block diagram symbol? TRS cables are generally shielded. The circuit diagram indicates that the shield portion of the TRS plug (which should be connected to the shield of the cable) is grounded to the chassis common ground of the mixer. |

Route Sound From Programs Into DAW (Windows) I'm not trying to convince you to change your platform, just noting that I really don't know anything about audio on Windows. Let's try to stay on-topic. |

Route Sound From Programs Into DAW (Windows) Good question, but I haven't used Windows for audio work in over a decade. You should add this clarification to your question. |

what hardware can I use to connect a Laserdisc player to my laptop? The DVL-9 may have a high quality composite decoding system, so I wouldn't completely give up on S-Video. You won't really know until you try it, and S-Video input shouldn't increase your cost much. |

How can I compress my bassline like the linked Boris Brejcha track? I edited your question for clarity to draw focus that you want to know how to achieve a particular style, not just how to compress in general. |

Tascam DR-40 for Lecture and Speeches? On one hand, none of the portable recorders have built-in shotgun mics, so you are going to have to deal with cardioids or omnis no matter what you get. On the other hand, just about everything supports 24bit which gives you a TON of headroom for gain in post. Remember that each bit doubles your resolution. If your goal is to produce a 16bit mp3, you are throwing away 8bits of resolution when you normalize anyway. So if your levels are low, you are just throwing out unused headroom. |

What causes the 130-133Hz hum in my KRK VXT6 monitors? At this point, I would contact KRK support. I think you have more than enough information for them to help you. |

What causes the 130-133Hz hum in my KRK VXT6 monitors? What does your spectrum analyzer look like while you are sweeping the sine wave? At 50Hz, you should see a single narrow peak at 50 Hz. Based on what you are describing, around 120-140Hz you are probably seeing something more like a mountain range. Also, is the peak in this distorted range much higher or lower than at other frequencies? |
