I'm a robot, but you've probably never heard of me.

When should I use a separate preamp or field mixer when recording from a mic? more details on why low levels are good. |

What causes a buzzing that goes away when I touch the jack? a while back, I was contemplating using spray adhesive with aluminum foil to shield an audio project, but I'm fairly sure the adhesive is nonconductive. The mechanical pressure of a washer is a good idea, though. |

When should I use a separate preamp or field mixer when recording from a mic? I agree with @JPollock that the built-in mics on the Zoom are fairly good to begin with. What are you hoping to accomplish by using different mics? |

What causes a buzzing that goes away when I touch the jack? How do you typically electrically tie your sheets of aluminum foil together and to the ground wire? Aluminum has a low melting point, and probably doesn't bond well with conventional solder (though I haven't tried to solder it myself). |

How to make a video from a still image and an audio file? I completely agree that you should make a point of accepting good answers, but when you do so is a matter of personal preference. I don't ask a lot of questions, so often like to give a weak answer 5-7 days before I accept it. AVP's traffic is light, and people don't seem shy about adding late answers, so it may not be a big deal. |

How to make a video from a still image and an audio file? I'm curious why you accepted my answer rather than Josh's more detailed answer that includes a how-to article. I don't mind the reputation points, but it seems like the other answer better addresses your question. |

What does GarageBand have compared to Audacity? I didn't realize that Record had been rolled in to Reason. It still seems like a strange choice for traditional recording, since most of Reason is designed for producing dance-music-that-is-electronic (but more than just "EDM"). |

What does GarageBand have compared to Audacity? Isn't Record the propellerhead product for recording audio? I have a hard time understanding how Reason could be useful for a singer / guitar player. |
