Has anybody tried using GIT version control for session control of audio recordings? Interesting points ... for me the biggest thing ( mentioned above which I hadn't thought of ) is that if git was to say 2 files were different on a merge it would often be impossible to figure out where the differences were. |

How much would I need to spend on a condenser microphone to get a reliable professional vocal sound? @TravisDtfsuCrum and no I think part of the guidelines is better than no guidelines |

Fix for terrible “Hard Drive Noise” Audio Interference? One thing you can do, and it's probably easier than it sounds though I know it's fairly radical is to swap your hard drive. You would do this by imaging your current drive to another drive. The method would depend on the imaging software which you'd need to research. I've used Rdrive image in the past and found it good. Then once you have it imaged you should be able to swap the drives and run some tests. If the problem is still there then you know it can't be the physical hard drive. You will ultimately probably have to remove pieces of the system one at a time like this to deduce the issue. |

How much would I need to spend on a condenser microphone to get a reliable professional vocal sound? @TravisDtfsuCrum my question basically was 'Could anybody give me any guidelines' ... I never asked you to cover every variable, just if there were any any guidelines. Are you suggesting that if it's not possible to pin it down exactly then it shouldn't be answered. I can understand why stackoverflow has rules like this but if stack exchange AVP can't be a bit more liberal than a programming site then I think it'll be less useful than it could have been given the artistic and subjective nature of the disciplines themselves. I suppose this is really a discussion for meta so I'll leave it there. |

How much would I need to spend on a condenser microphone to get a reliable professional vocal sound? ... and I never asked anyone to set my budget ... really ... guidelines for budget setting and budget setting are many worlds apart |

How much would I need to spend on a condenser microphone to get a reliable professional vocal sound? I thank you all for trying to help but it's a very simple question, and not at all vague. I personally know a reasonabl amount about guitars and to make an analogy I would suggest that someone looking to buy a guitar that would likely yield a professional sound on an album recording would probably need to spend at least €800, spending 800 to 1500 would likely get a very good guitar though the sky is the limit after that and clearly personal taste, strings, amps, room acoustics application and other factors come into it. I know it's slightly subjective but there no need to be precious about it! |
