I am looking for a good directional/omnidirectional mic that has good quality for under a hundred dollars. I want to use it for when I shoot video and for recording folio. I'm going to dub in the sound from the mic into the video. Any recommendations?

If you already have an audio interface with phantom power, I highly recommend the MXL condenser mics. The V63m is my general-purpose go-to microphone for pretty much everything these days, and is on Musician's Friend for $70 (including shockmount). I've also had good experiences with the MXL 990, which is available on Musician's Friend for $60, or you can get it in a bundle with the 991 (which I haven't tried) for $80. |

I would suggest the Snowball microphone from Blue Microphone. I have it, and the sound quality is good. It has an omni-directional mode where it picks up sound equally in all directions. It is currently selling on Amazon.com for $61.13 |
