Could you elaborate? "audio production" is a broad term. – jan Dec 9 '10 at 15:12
Welcome to Audio.SE and thanks for your question. But I have to close some of these vague requests while we're still early in beta. Audio production is a very broad term. Can you elaborate a bit about what area you are interested in? Your situation? Your goals? You can see by all the "it depends" answers on this system why "expert answers" will come from very specific questions that can be answered at least somewhat objectively. Please feel free to try again. Thanks. – Robert Cartaino Dec 9 '10 at 16:33

@Robert Cartaino, I don't know whether it would be of any value, but this would be a good community wiki article in the future. (BTW: Thanks for your attention here! Good to actually have some real moderation going on in this early stage.) – Pelle ten Cate Dec 9 '10 at 17:41

Can we improve this question and get it reopened? Let's assume the OP means basic sound engineering: signal flow and processing, levels, routing, mixing, etc. There are so many bad books on this subject that some recommendations from the community would be extremely valuable. – harpo Dec 9 '10 at 20:30
I agree, +1 for making it a community wiki question, albeit with a more specific focus. e.g. "Good Books for Beginning Audio Engineering" – Rich Bruchal Dec 17 '10 at 1:36

It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form. For help clarifying this question so that it can be reopened, see the FAQ.
